Gho Matha
Humanitarian and Charitable Acts for Cows and Families
The Sacred Cow, Universal Mother
Gho Matha, the Divine Mother Cow, is a symbol of purity, nourishment, and unconditional love. In Hindu tradition, the cow is revered not only for her physical gifts—such as milk, ghee, and dung—but also for her sacred presence.
Spiritually, Gho Matha represents the ideal of selfless giving, an energy that heals, uplifts, and harmonises. To serve the cow is to serve the Divine in one of its most tangible, nurturing forms.

Supporting Gho Matha is considered one of the most auspicious and spiritually uplifting acts. It is both a devotional offering and an expression of compassionate service (seva).
Through your support, we can:
-
Feed and care for cows in Amma’s sanctuary
-
Save cows from slaughter
-
Offer them to families in need, transforming lives
-
Sustain temple rituals through their milk
-
Honour the Divine through Gho Puja and Dhaanam
Feeding even a single living being is annadhaanam. In bringing joy to any creature, we offer true nourishment to the world.
—Sri Sakthi Amma

Gho Puja with Gho Dhaanam
A Sacred Offering of Devotion and Seva
At Beloved Narayani, we offer a powerful and deeply meaningful spiritual opportunity:
the combined offering of Gho Puja and Gho Dhaanam.
This practice unites two sacred acts into one:
1. Worshipping the Divine through Gho Puja, and
2. Serving humanity through the gift of a cow to a family in need.
This offering includes a sacred Gho Puja performed in your name, making it both a personal blessing and a life-changing gift to another. It is both a personal prayer and a selfless gift, a ritual of spiritual blessing and social upliftment—where devotion (bhakti) meets action (seva).

Gho Dhaanam
Cow offering
Gho Dhaanam (cow offering) is a project that donates cows to families living below the poverty line. These cows provide nourishing milk for the family and generate income from the excess sold to generate a steady income. Dung becomes fuel and fertilizer, reducing costs and supporting sustainable living. Donating a cow is an act of empowerment, not just charity by creating a means for a family to support themselves. Alternatively, cows can also be offered and cared for by the Gho Sala, offering milk for daily temple abhishekams (ritual baths).
Gho Dhaanam honors the sacred and helps alleviate human suffering.

Gho Samrakshana
Save a cow from the slaughterhouse.
Gho Samrakshana (cow protection) is a project that rescues and takes care of cows. When a cow has aged and stopped giving milk, she is often considered a financial burden by her owner and is sometimes sold to the slaughterhouse.
Sri Sakthi Amma has often said that no person has the right to end the life of a cow or any other living being, hence the initiation of Gho Samrakshana. Cows are bought from slaughterhouses and brought back to Sri Sakthi Amma’s cow sanctuary, where they live out their lives in peace, in a loving environment, in nature.
